Thoughts on Security in Web3
Self-custody is a beautiful thing. You have access and control of your assets because you hold private keys. You heard this before: Not Your Keys, Not Your Crypto. Whoever has access to private keys has access to the assets. With this also comes to the responsibility of safeguarding your assets; not everyone is used to it.
Quick disclaimer. This is not financial advice. It is only for entertainment and educational purposes. Do your own research.
I am writing this article after the spaces with Feld and Simona, where we discussed protecting your assets, and Feld mentioned a great point.
This Is The Alpha👇🏻
You should use HW wallet if you own assets worth more than $1K. If you own assets over 5 or 10K, you should spend a few hours understanding security on a much better level because you are the only one who can ensure that all the assets are secured.
You can listen to the space here👇🏻

It is not a sexy topic but the most important one. Even though there has been massive progress over the years in knowledge, it is still not enough, and hacks are happening on a daily basis. We grind in this space hard to grow our portfolio, and we are 1 hack away from losing it. It won't have to be the case if you spend some time learning.
Never Stop Learning
We all know the importance of Hardware Wallet, and I believe most people use it, but it won't protect you from signing malicious transactions or messages. You need to have a system, like a wallet segmentation, to minimize the risks and understand what you are singing. There are multiple layers of Security, like device security, understanding social engineering hacks, fake mints, and so much more.
My message is simple:
Please spend some time and revise your Security and learn how to improve it. It is worth it; the sooner you do it, the better for you.
Where To Start?
We are so fortunate to have amazing people in this space. My first place would be Boring Security. I will share Tweets, so it is much easier for you to navigate.
There are excellent articles on Boring Security Website, and you can sign up for courses in their Discord. Please do this step now. You won't regret it.

I hope this article was helpful for you guys so you can set the best security practices and stay safe in your Web3 journey. It is not a one-time thing. We need to keep learning because even scams and hacks are evolving.
Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are on Web3 Security and is the self custody the way for the masses?
Have a great week
